Cooperation by geographical areas
URUGUAY
Starting in the '80s, many Uruguayan researchers have been received at INRIA.
The 2 main common projects presently running concern the MODEL team at INRIA-Rennes (IRISA) and the Operational Research Group (IN.CO) of the Engineering School of the Universidad de la Republica - Montevideo.
- Evaluation of systems avalability:
Targeted systems are computing systems, communications networks and electrical power (distribution and transmission) networks
The companies involved are UTE (national electricity generation and distribution company in Uruguay) and EDF (the same in France).
The project started in 1994 for 3 years. 2 missions have been financed by ECOS (Scientific cooperation with Chili and Uruguay). The infrastucture (access to the necessary documentation, workstations, software) are provided by IRISA and IN.CO.
- Modellisation and simulation of communication networks in an intelligent environment - A design tool. - The project works on the availability of the networks and on the design of alternative topologies (to the existing one) which could be more reliable. The national Uruguayan companies ANTEL (telephones) and UTE (electricity) and EDF in France are involved. This project is supported by CONICYT/BID (Uruguay). Two stays on each country are planned. The project started in June 1994 for 2 years.
