International Relations of INRIA
Cooperation by geographical areas
Germany
Germany is one of the main European partners of the Institute. The links are old and were formalised in 1974 with a cooperation agreement with GMD. The two institutes were among the founders of ERCIM.
Collaboration subjects cover the whole specter of research in computer science and applied mathematics. Main themes are: numerical analysis, image processing, symbolic calculus, software engineering, control and robotics.
Close collaborations exist also with the universities of Bonn, Stuttgart and Munich in numerical analysis, with the universities of Berlin and Bochum in
software engineering and with Hamburg in image synthesis...
In the framework of projects financed by the European Commission, INRIA presently cooperates with 55 German partners (30 are universities, 21 industrial undertakings in particular from the aeronautics sector).
Concerning these projects, Germany is also one of the main partners along with the United Kingdom.
